TAKE ME TO THE MOON (End Game Investigation)

[Friday arrives uneventfully. The fog is growing stronger, it's true, but nothing obvious has happened. It's probably a relief not to have Kakuya's presence or a monster breathing down your neck. That doesn't help the sense that something has changed. Not one but two areas have opened up. A large skyscraper now towers over everything in the east, it's large bulk casting shadows over the entire 'city'. In the west, a park surrounding a lake sprawls out; a solemn looking Japanese shrine sits on an island in the middle of the lake.

Two large new areas are open to you... it's a bit disorienting but you probably should spread out.]

[Water gods being worshiped by young mothers and an abundance of turtles...all of this is so, so weird...

Generally looking around now, anything notable about the flora or fauna? Weird trees or a turtle that looks different from the rest?]

[It seems the gods were supposed to bring luck in childbirth or something along those lines. Superstitious but not malicious, at least. The turtles look normal... though once or twice you think you can see a human face in their shell.

There is... a piece of paper stuck to a fence, though.]

And OH, HATE THOSE TURTLES NOW, THE SECOND ONE OF THOSE SHELLS LOOK LIKE IT'S GIVING HIM THE STINK EYE HE'S JUMPING LIKE A METER IN THE AIR

And finally...paper. What is apparently becoming his nemesis in this place. He wants to ignore it, but...if it's important information, not knowing it could really hurt them in the long run...

[It's the title page of a book. Part of the title is torn off but this is what you can read:

[Cutting himself off. He would love to cuss out this guy, but he's saving it. This guy is getting the full dog cursing special if he gets the chance.

Anything else to get from this thing? An autograph or a note also written on the page?]

[Other than the fact that it's clear that only the title was ripped? Not really. There are some other ~~cursed papers~~ clues in this area if you want to look.]

[Huh. Weird that only the title is there, and not even all of it. Too bad he can't question it much...

Looking around some more. Maybe a tree has an answer, or someone will come speak for them?]

[There's... two newspaper articles that have been crumbled up near a tree. A turtle is trying to eat one.]

[Swipping at that turtle, not really trying to hit it so much as get it to stop eating paper. Can he read any headlines as he does this?]

[It seems to be from a tabloid but the missing person is a Seiji Amanome. An eighteen year old young man that is the known heir of the Amanome crime family. Known to some as the 'Prince of Threats' for his cunning, despite the fact that he hasn't officially joined the yakuza himself, Seiji has been missing for a about a month. The author seems to think that this is just a conflict among the crime families but does find it unusual that his father, the current head of the family, hasn't acted on it.

[It's alright, he probably got it mixed up with the next article. It's more low-key, since supposedly it's about a civilian but the title reads:

Former Idol's Daughter Vanishes

A girl, the daughter of the former idol [Insert name here; sorry, your moderator doesn't have a name for this person.], has been reported missing. Kaoru Hazuki (age 16) was attending a prestigious girl's academy when she vanished one day. It's been speculated that kidnapping might have been a motive but the mother also says her daughter might just be absorbed in one of her hobbies. What those hobbies are, she declined to say.

A picture of Kaoru is included.

Her clothes look very similar to that of the idol 'Momo Kuruse'.]

[YUP, THAT'S ABOUT WHAT HE EXPECTED]

[Four missing girls...similar clothes...he has a feeling and he hates it with all his heart.

Anything else he can get from these papers, or is it time to move on?]

[Something comes to mind before you move on: Kaoru doesn't fit the description of the four missing girls. The oldest of which was in middle school, around twelve. Sixteen is too old for her to fit the profile. The others didn't have their names published for privacy but it appears the children of minor celebrities don't have that privacy.

You think that's all you can sniff out here.]

[Dog...dog, that makes the missing girl's article so much worse in hindsight. And that this whole article says this girl's name, not like the others...it feels uncomfortable, in a way that's hard to put into words.

But if there's nothing else to be gained by these papers, he can't waste time thinking about this too hard. Need to move on to the next thing.

Speaking of which, is there anything else to find here? Particularly something he can sniff out?]

[It seems that the lake smells... well. Like a lake. Lots of muck in that, probably, but that's the main thing you can smell. This area is clear.]
